Poperinge is a medieval city
which still retains three monumental churches which bear witness to its
historic importance.
The principal of these is
'Hoofdkerk Sint-Bertinus'
more than four hundred years old,
built on the site of a Romanesque predecessor which burnt down in 1419.
On a more mundane level Poperinge is now home to the
National Hop Museum.
This museum takes visitors on a fascinating journey on the
tools, techniques and history of hop growing.
Matters of pressing importance to beer lovers the world over.
