French Chambres d'Hotes
At Hotels Abroad we have been working with B&Bs in France (and to a lesser
extent in other countries) since 1984. The properties are overwhelmingly in
rural settings and range from simple farmhouses to fairly luxurious manors.
They are ideal for touring, short breaks, add-ons and overnight stops.
With just a very few exceptions (always mentioned in the individual property
details), the bedrooms have en-suite facilities. The properties are
invariably in large grounds and have ample private parking. You always get
a good continental breakfast, and at many you have the opportunity to have
dinner - which is always reasonably priced and usually taken with the
family and/or other guests. Menus usually consist of 3 or 4 courses and are
mainly priced between 15 and 25 euros and often include wine and coffee.
(Meals should be booked in advance, preferably at the time you book the
accommodation.)
Touring Holidays
The Bed&Breakfast properties or 'Chambres d'Hotes' are perfect for touring. Plan your own itinerary - stay as
many days as you like in each place and take in as many areas as you wish.
You will be able to discover the major attractions of the country, as well
as the tranquillity, charm and character of the local communities.
Short Breaks
For short breaks they are absolutely ideal. All the properties in the
Nord/Pas de Calais, Picardy and Normandy are within easy reach of the
Channel ports and are suitable for weekends. And those further away, such
as in the Loire or Brittany are convenient for slightly longer breaks of 4
to 7 days.
Overnight Stops
Since many of the properties have no minimum length of stay, they may also
be convenient as overnight stops. However, bear in mind that they are
likely to be situated away from the main through routes and you have to plan
to arrive no later than 20:00.
